I invite you into the heart of the oldest queer theatre in Canada, to grapple with the intersections of queerness, colonization, climate change, indigeneity, race, class, and religion. This season we implicate ourselves both in history and in our collective future.
I’m excited to unveil significant new queer works on our stage, as well
as welcoming back audience favorites from last season. I am also excited to be deepening our relationships with Toronto’s most groundbreaking indie companies, and establishing new and innovative partnerships with theatre makers here in Toronto and across the country.
Join us as we break new ground, hold space for radical queer conversation, and dream the culture forward.
Every Saturday night, Buddies opens the doors to our community for a night of fun, friends, and dancing
It’s both. Buddies in Bad Times is a professional theatre company dedicated to the production and development of queer plays. We’ve been around since 1979 and are the largest and longest-running queer theatre in the world. On Saturday nights, we host late night events to raise money for our theatre and community programming. All the proceeds from the bar go directly to the theatre, which makes Saturday night at Buddies the most fun you’ve ever had supporting the arts.
Doors always open at 10:30. Legal Government Issued Photo ID required. Must be 19+ to attend.
$7 cover
The best party on the block takes over the whole building for Queer Pride. Come early to see Toronto’s top drag queens in a super-charged floor show, and stay late with our resident DJ Regina spinning your favourite top-40 queer anthems.
Buddies is part of a diverse neighbourhood of businesses, bars, and people’s apartments – we ask that when you come to party on the weekend that you treat our neighbourhood, our neighbours, and your fellow party-goers with respect.
